FLOOD alerts have been issued for coastal areas with high water levels and large waves forecast for this evening (Monday) and tomorrow (Tuesday).

The Environment Agency’s warnings follow patches of heavy rain and high tides over the weekend, with waves almost eight metres above sea level forecast tonight at Watch House Road in Pill, on the River Avon estuary.

Warnings of onshore flooding have been made for the area, as well as the coastline between Gullhouse Point and Marine Parade in Clevedon.

High tides are expected at between 8-9pm tonight, with the Somerset coast at Burnham, Portishead and from Uphill to Kingston Seymour also likely to see unusually high sea levels at around 8.45am tomorrow.

For regular updates, visit the Environment Agency website or call their floodline on 0845 988 1188.
