Flash flooding has caused damage to properties in Weston-super-Mare, after heavy rain fell overnight (Thursday).

At 5.20pm yesterday two fire crews from Weston attended a block of flats in Park Place.

Every floor of the three-storey building had been affected by flooding so firefighters used salvage sheets to divert water and used a turn table ladder to inspect its roof.

They carried out first aid on a man aged in his 80s but no further medical treatment was needed.

Then at 5.35pm, one crew was called to a house in Clovelly Road after a conservatory was affected by flooding.

The crew cleared drains using chimney rods and pumped water out of the property.

A Met Office amber warning for rain remains in place today.
