RESIDENTS in North Somerset are being urged to attend a special flooding workshop to learn tips on how to guard against damage.
Representatives from North Somerset Council and the Environment Agency will hold the event at the Winter Gardens on Wednesday from 10am-7pm.
Agency spokesman Tim Preece said: "The extreme rainfall and high tides that we saw in 2007 is likely to become more frequent as we feel the increasing effects of climate change.
"People should not assume that because their property has not flooded in the past it will not flood in the future.
"It is imperative that we raise awareness the risks, enabling people to put measures in place to prepare for flooding and to take the appropriate action to minimise the effects if it occurs."
