A TWO-DAY flower festival was held in Congresbury to mark a very important anniversary.
The 800th anniversary celebrations for St Andrew’s Church have been taking place throughout 2015, and the church was a picture of colour with floral exhibits taking centre stage.
Stuart Haggett, chairman of the church’s friends group, said: “It was a stunning and hugely successful weekend.
“Some 23 flower arrangers, under the guidance of Margaret Gosling, worked throughout the week to produce not only the actual displays in church, which reflect aspects of history and church activities and groups, but also the flower-filled boot trail on all paths leading to the church to pick up on the theme of 800 years walking in faith on the new altar frontal.”
About 500 villagers turned up on the first day of celebrations to inspect the pretty displays, with a further 200 visiting the day after.
