Football club welcomes bumper crowd to open day

Weston-super-Mare Football Club held an open day this week, offering entry for just £1 at the Woodspring Stadium.

The club opened its turnstiles on Good Friday for the crucial game against Margate in the National League South.

Prior to the match, there were plenty of family activities to keep people entertained.

The Seagulls secured a convincing 3-1 victory in front of 740-strong crowd – relegating Margate as a result.

Scott Bartlett’s side then confirmed their league status on Monday, despite losing 3-0 at St Albans City, as relegation rivals Gosport Borough were beaten by Oxford City.

Commercial director Neil Keeling said: “It was a great success with lots of new faces and families coming along to see what we have on offer.

“It was also great to give something back our loyal supporters for their fantastic support.”
