Former museum office to be sold at auction

A BUILDING which was used as additional offices for North Somerset Museum will be sold at auction.

North Somerset Council has decided that 52 Orchard Street is surplus to requirements following the takeover of the museum by Weston Town Council.

Councillor Carl Francis-Pester, executive member for environment and asset management, rubberstamped the plans last week.

The unitary authority has submitted planning applications for change of use of the Orchard Street premises to office and residential use.

A council spokesman said: “There are certain restrictive conditions on the property at this present time so before selling it at auction we have submitted application to change the use of the building.

“If the applications are approved the property will have more appeal for bidders at auction.”
