The green light has been given to turn Wrington’s Old Chemist Shop into a home.

North Somerset Council granted planning permission for the transformation despite some concern within the community.

The Old Chemist Shop was last used as a pharmacy in 2007 and has been used as an office since 2010.

Prior to the planning decision, Wrington Parish Council said it was ‘concerned’ at losing the office space.

It said a new home would create ‘increased pressure’ on parking in Silver Street and elsewhere in the village, with options for motorists ‘already at a premium’

The parish council said: “There is a serious risk of impeding the roadway by parked cars.”

However, North Somerset Council disagreed and felt there were no ‘adverse transport or highway safety’ ramifications from the plan.
