A FORMER Premier League footballer will give coaching lessons to youngsters at Puxton Park on Friday.
Former winger Scott Murray, who counts Bristol City, Aston Villa and Reading among his former clubs, will be holding a football skills workshop at the park at 10am, 11am, noon, 2pm and 3pm.
The 36-year-old said: “It is important to get youngsters involved in sporting activities at an early age.
“There are so many gadgets outs there now most kids want to stay indoors sat on the couch therefore any chance to get them outdoors and give them exercise is great.
“These sessions will teach youngsters the basics but my aim is to get them to enjoy football, as they have got to enjoy the sport first and foremost.”
The fun will continue with smarts sports coaching held at the same times on Saturday and Sunday, with the 50 minute sessions costing £1.
Head of park Susie Johnson said: “To celebrate the 2012 UEFA European Football Championship we thought it would be fun to hold our own football sessions for youngsters.”
The park will also launch a new conservation area this week, which will feature swinging steps, a chain walk and a postman’s bridge.
