A STILT walker, a wandering minstrel and a juggler are just some of the characters who will be entertaining visitors at Axbridge's Showcase on Saturday.

This year's event is packed with activities from 9am-11pm. There will be craft displays, a farmers' market, exhibitions and live music ringing out into the wee hours.

Residents will also be taking part in the festivities by setting up their own stalls along West Street, High Street and St Mary's Street to sell a range of second-hand items.

The Residents' Street Market has been organised by the Chamber of Commerce and stall-holders will be giving out coffee to customers.

Morris men will be putting on some traditional entertainment and Clarendon Recorders will be performing in St John the Baptist Church during the day.

At Compton House, children can enjoy the Punch and Judy shows while their parents listen to the Axbridge Singers and feast on cream teas.

From 5-7pm children can dance the night away in the Town Hall at a disco. A pig roast, fireworks and live music in The Square from the Clifton Jazz Band, followed by rock band ConnecTion, will be attracting crowds as revellers party into the night.

Attendance is free and there will be free parking on the Furlong. For more details visit www.somersetshowcase.info or call 01934 733306.
