An event raising much-needed cash for a talented young performer from Weston-super-Mare who is dreaming of performing on the West End was held on Monday.

A curry night raising money for Jack’s Dream was held at Hussain’s on Monday.

Nearly 100 people turned out to support 16-year-old Jack Evison, who needs tens of thousands of pounds to make his dream of studying at Colins Performing Arts College (CPA), in Essex, a reality.

Jack has been awarded a scholarship at CPA, but is not eligible for support with accommodation costs as he is 16.

A raffle raised £140, and restaurant owner Alkas Hussain pledged 20 per cent of the bill will be donated to the appeal.

Jack’s mum Zoe Evison said: “It was a lovely atmosphere, everyone came together to support him. The response has blown us away.”

A variety performance for Jack’s Dream will be held at the Grand Pier on July 22 at 7pm. Tickets cost £15 and are available from Nightingale in Waterloo Street.
