Daring fundraisers will abseil down Uphill Quarry on Saturday to raise money for Weston Hospicecare.

The charity is holding its first ever abseil at the quarry and more than 20 people will be making the descent down the 150ft cliffs to raise funds for the hospice.

Bloxham and Barlow is sponsoring the event and a number of staff will also be taking part.

Owner Chris Bloxham said: “We have helped raise funds for Weston Hospicecare for many years, and this is certainly the most daring event that staff members have volunteered to take part in.

“It’s great to be part of this very worthy cause, and we want to say good luck to all of the participants.”

Mendip Outdoor Pursuits will be running the event with experts on hand to guide participants down the cliffs.

Hospice fundraiser Rachel Smith, said: “We’re hoping people will raise as much sponsorship as they can so we can continue our work with local people affected by life-limiting illness.”
