Weston’s pop-up amusement park enjoyed a ‘fantastic’ opening weekend, as the bank holiday sunshine lured thousands to the seafront.

Funland At The Tropicana opened at the weekend, and it benefitted from thousands of people visiting Weston to enjoy the warmest early May bank holiday on record.

This is the third summer Funland has occupied the Trop, with it opening on weekends until the school holidays see it run seven days a week.

A new rollercoaster proved the star attraction for revellers.

Funland organiser James Rogers told the Mercury the opening weekend spells positive signs for the summer.

He said: “The first weekend went very well. Thousands of people came through the doors and the feedback from customers on how the park looks this year was great.

“Also we have had fantastic feedback on the new rollercoaster. All in all it is very promising for the season ahead.”
