THE managing director of a Weston company says a set of roadworks in Weston 'shows lack of consideration to businesses' in town.John Moore has been caught in traffic every day for the last two weeks on Flowerdown Bridge in Weston while commuting from his home in Backwell to his business Cabletec, in Sunnyside Road.Bridge repairs and road surfacing work are currently being carried out on the busy route and North Somerset Council expects the work to take up to three weeks.Mr Moore said: "The road over Flowerdown Bridge is narrowed to one lane but when you pass by either nobody seems to be working or only three people are doing the job."Why not get 20 people in to do the job in a week?"I wouldn't mind if I was seeing progress but I'm not."The work shows complete lack of consideration to businesses in Weston."For six years I have been commuting from Backwell to Weston and this is one of the worst cases of poor management of road repair work I have seen."A North Somerset Council spokesman said: "We appreciate the co-operation and patience of motorists during these essential works."At times it may appear that little or no work is being carried out. This is because the material being laid requires cooling before traffic can be allowed back on to it. "In addition, because of the housing nearby it is not possible to work extended hours and overnight on this scheme."We apologise for any inconvenience but the work is necessary.
