THIS week marks the 100th anniversary of the coronation of King George V and Mercury reporters have been trawling the archives to bring our readers a piece of history.
On June 22, 1911, celebrations were held across Weston to herald the arrival of the new monarch.
The heavens opened that day, but the spirits of people across town were not dampened as can be seen in these photos.
Crowds gathered in Grove Park at the top of the High Street and parties were held in streets across Weston.
The bunting went up outside shops, businesses and homes and the Clarence Park flower arrangement of the Imperial State Crown even made the national press.
