It's a Knockout.

It's a Knockout.

Archant

TORRENTIAL rain could not dampen the spirits of dozens of It's A Knockout contestants in
Weston last weekend.

The heavens opening failed to wash away compere Keith
Chegwin’s enthusiasm for the inflatable madness that unfolded in front of his eyes on the Beach Lawns.

Staff from a number of groups and businesses, including the club at Doubletree by Hilton,
Cadbury House, rolled up their sleeves to tackle the ultimate adventure course.

Other organisations who took part included Hornets Ladies team, staff from the Lord Nelson pub in Cleeve and Weston’s Treats Café.

While all the games made for plenty of thrills and spills, there was a serious message at the heart of the two-day Weston Community Festival.

The event – which also featured a Saturday night performance from The Wurzels – raised money for Kids ‘n’ Cancer charity.

The dozens of It’s A Knockout competitors were asked to raise £30 sponsorship each while tickets were sold for The Wurzels’ gig too, with the charity set to gain hundreds of pounds in its fight against cancer.
