Archant

THIS year’s May Day celebrations in Hutton had a distinctly Olympic feel to them.

Bad weather saw last year’s event cancelled but this year’s parade managed to miss the worst of the rainy bank holiday weather as it wound its way from Holm Road to St Mary’s Field.

The 2012 May Queen, Sofia Siangolis, was crowned before the celebrations moved to the village hall in Church Lane, where the annual fair was held. Hutton Friendship Club won the prize for best float in this year’s parade, with its costumes representing the many different competing nations in the Olympic Games.

Hutton Parish Council clerk Steve Cope said: “It went absolutely brilliantly, we were very lucky with the weather.

“Everybody was extremely imaginative with their Olympic-themed outfits and there were some excellent costumes as a result.”
