CROWDS lined a Weston street to welcome a royal visitor to the town on Friday.

HRH Princess Anne opened the new offices of Nightingale Property Sales and Lettings, in Waterloo Street, watched by primary school children and Weston residents.

And company boss Richard Nightingale made it an extra special occasion for one Weston youngster, by offering them the chance to give the Princess a welcome bouquet.

The Mercury invited primary schoolchildren to enter an art competition to draw their own fairytale princess – and Katie Price, aged 10, of Lancaster House School was picked as our winner.

Richard said it was a very wonderful afternoon, enjoyed by everyone who attended.

He said: “Katie was very excited and brought her mum and a friend with her and it all went very well. Nerves didn’t seem to overtake her and she did a really good job.

“The Princess Royal seemed very pleased with what we are trying to achieve. She was very encouraging about our expansion. It was wonderful.

“I think it really puts Weston on the map. It goes a long way to show the Princess Royal recognises Weston as a progressive and up and coming seaside town. It was fantastic for us and fantastic for Weston.”
