GREASE was the word at a Somerset town's biggest event of the year, where the theme was the 1978 musical.

The Somerset Showcase was held in The Square in Axbridge, and thousands of people visited to enjoy the entertainment and stalls on offer.

A café was dressed in the style of a 1950s diner, with members of the town’s Chamber of Commerce dressing up as Pink Ladies and T-Birds from the cult movie classic.

Tricia Clark, committee member on the chamber which organised the event, said: “Everything went really well and I think we covered all our costs.

“There were a lot of people there and the café was full all day.

“The evening event was lovely, with people dancing in The Square to a live band.”

Entertainment included fire jugglers, Congresbury Brass Band and street performers.

Children were able to have a go on an inflatable slide or watch the Punch and Judy show.
