THATCHERS is hoping for another great year after blessing its apple trees at a traditional wassailing ceremony at its orchards in Sandford.

Hanging toast in the branches, pouring cider over the roots and singing songs were just some ways guests kept the tradition alive.

The cider company’s managing director Martin Thatcher said: “A good cider is all about the apples – so while we have every confidence in the expertise of our orchard team, we like to give them a helping hand with the ceremony.

“The wassail is a great opportunity to invite revellers to our orchards to share the tradition and to say a big thank you to all our guests for their support during the year. We love to have a party and this is a great excuse to do just that.”
