Gang lobs wood through window

POLICE are hunting a gang of youths who lobbed a plank of wood through a Cheddar supermarket window over the festive period.

The incident happened at Tesco Express at around 9pm on Boxing Day.

PC Kat Forrest, beat manager for Cheddar, told the Mercury that there were around six people in the group which targeted the Station Road premises on December 26.

She said: “They threw a plank of wood through the glass front door which caused quite a large amount of damage and the door has to be replaced.”

The incident happened while the store was still open and although staff member spotted a group of youths running away they could not issue anymore detailed descriptions of the offenders.
