A DECISION on whether to allow a 24-hour garage at Wraxall to expand has been put on hold.Councillors agreed to defer making a decision on plans to demolish the existing Wraxall Service Station and build a larger, more modern facility.Owners Tout Limited want to install five new pump islands, a shop, two new car washes, a jet wash, 15 parking spaces and new underground tanks. The new building would also have a contemporary style wave shaped roof. But the plans have sparked concerns from local residents who say the bigger service station would cause extra noise and disturbance for neighbouring properties.People said they were concerned local teenagers would gather at the improved garage late at night. Wraxall and Failand Parish Council also raised objections saying the garage's immediate neighbours would suffer from increased light and noise pollution.Councillors were concerned about the environmental impact the increased garage operation could have. The matter was discussed at a meeting of North Somerset Council planning and regulatory committee.Councillors agreed to defer making a decision to allow officers to seek improvements to the appearance of the building, ensure the roof materials were not reflective and to asses the impact of noise and light from the service station on nearby properties.
