A GARDENING project is in need of volunteers to help to make the area around Cheddar gorge more attractive.

Community group My Cheddar is working with the parish council to improve the beds by the River Yeo in the lower gorge area.

The group previously restored the garden at Hannah More Cottage, and the flowerbeds in the gorge have become similarly overgrown.

It is hoped the beds can be cleared so the area could be used as a community space or an area to display art and sculptures.

The work will be carried out throughout the year, and My Cheddar will continue to maintain the area once it is complete.
