Broadoak Mathematics and Computing College in Weston has had an increase in its GCSE results for the fourth year running.

A delighted headteacher, Linda Heaven-Woolley, pointed to a long list of 'big hits' that she said continue the upward journey of the college.

The college has bucked the national trend with boys' results rising by an amazing 10 per cent.

The average points score per student has gone up by 26 points, with the figure for boys rising by 36 points.

The top subjects for Year 11 were geography at 77 per cent for 5 A*-C grades, product design at 73 per cent, citizenship (studied for only one year) at an amazing 72 per cent and IT at 64.2 per cent.

The college is one of the few in the country that can this year celebrate the fact that every Broadoak college leaver has gained a full GCSE in maths and English and over 10 per cent gained an A* in maths.

Individual high scorers are Ellie Moore with nine A*s and three As, Tasmin Jones with six A*s, five As and a B, Timothy Bull with four A*s, six As and two Bs, Claire Burgess with four A*s, six As and two Bs.
