SPORTY teenagers have been picking up vital skills and learning valuable lessons from experts ahead of the North Somerset World Cup which is being staged in Portishead next week.On Saturday, Clevedon's Hand Stadium, in Davis Lane, hosted a training day from 11am-1pm to help the young players perform at their best at the event on May 31.Players and coaches from Clevedon Town Football Club lined up from 11am-1pm to pass on tips and tactics ahead of the big day.Alan Rowe, of Portishead Youth Centre, said: "The training event went really well."Boys and girls from youth clubs, established teams, and youngsters who are getting together specially for the tournament, came along to pick up last-minute hints to give them the edge on the big day."The skills, fitness and endurance training they did, along with some shooting practice and the mini-tournament they played in, should stand them in good stead."We're really grateful to Barry Bradshaw for setting up the event at the Hand Stadium and to the players and coaches of Clevedon Town Football Club who gave up their time to pass on the benefit of their experience and expertise."Barry Bradshaw, owner of the Hand Stadium, said: "It was good to see youngsters of all abilities developing their footballing skills and having fun doing it.
