GARDENING enthusiasts have managed to grow a six foot geranium, which normally only reach around one foot.

Tony and Alison Hughes, of Says Lane in Langford, have kept the plant alive for three years and it has survived two winters up against the west facing wall of their house.

Alison, aged 62, said: "Geranium's don't normally survive a frost so we are very surprised it has stayed alive for so long and it has grown so big.

"I think the shelter from our house has meant the plant hasn't had to endure the full brunt of the English weather.
