WESTON Hospicecare's new chief executive took up her post this week - and said she is looking forward to a new challenge.
Gill Young, aged 56, has a strong nursing background and was the chief executive of Myton Hospices for 12 years before she joined the Uphill team.
She has moved from Warwickshire to Portishead with her partner The Reverend Philip Auden, the Deputy Lieutenant of the County and City of Bristol.
She said: “Everyone has been very welcoming and I am really pleased to be starting my new role.
“I am looking forward to working with all the staff and volunteers here to continue providing the very high standards of care that I have already witnessed.
“I will be getting out into the community as much as possible over the next six months to meet as many local people and organisations that I can.
“I am keen to learn from everyone within the hospice as well as bring some of my expertise to the organisation that I hope will be useful.”
Gill Blackshaw, who has been the interim chief executive, said: “I know Gill is going to be an absolute asset to the organisation. I have every confidence that she is going to fit in in no time.”
