A DEVELOPER hoping to transform an 'ugly' former hotel site in Weston into flats has been granted planning permission.
Curo Group wants to build 15 flats with 21 car parking spaces on the site of the former Bayside Hotel in Manilla Crescent.
North Somerset Council’s planning officers have granted planning permission to the scheme.
The hotel was badly damaged by fire in 2011 and was knocked down in an emergency demolition after it became a home to squatters.
The land has been targeted by fly-tippers and residents said the site was ‘ugly’ and ‘brought the area down’.
The developer is in talks with the council to negotiate section 106 agreements, where money is given to benefit the community.
