SPECIALIST bat boxes are being put up around a nature reserve after the discovery of a rare species.Members of Yatton and Congresbury Wildlife Action Group have discovered the elusive barbastelle bat around Yatton and Claverham. The bat is normally found on the continent and is rarely seen in Britain.Bat boxes are now being put up around the group's Littlewood reserve so members can monitor all the bat species in the area.Group member Tony Moulin said: "You can only keep a track on some species if they are staying in a bat box, and they also provide roosting sites. "The barbastelle bat is a rare find and we are doing a lot of exciting work with bats this year."Mr Moulin will be running a course called 'Be a Bat Detective' at Goblin Combe Environmental Centre in Cleeve from 7-10pm on Tuesday.
