The couple, aged 71 and 69 respectively, married on August 18, 1968 and have lived in Burnham-on-Sea for 18 months after moving to the area to retire from work.

They previously owned and ran the caravan and camping site Bucklegrove Holiday Park, in Wells Road near Cheddar, for 21 years – following on from owning The Wood Pile garage in West Huntspill for 22 years.

Sue and Dave are originally from the village of Pawlett, near Bridgwater, and met more than 55 years ago.

They have two daughters, Donna Kynaston, 49, and Marie Hudson, 47, three grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Sue said: “I honestly can’t believe we’ve been married for all these years.

“It’s been brilliant being able to run a business with Dave, and it wouldn’t have worked as well as it did if we didn’t have each other.”
