Congresbury villagers have joined forces with Weston MP John Penrose to urge Government planners to determine an application to build 14 houses in green fields.

Mr Penrose wrote to Secretary of State for local government and communities, Greg Clark, and housing minister Brandon Lewis, to ask them to decide whether developer Strongvox could build 14 homes off Venus Street. This was because the developer submitted two identical planning applications for the site, as it appealed its first application when North Somerset Council took too long to decide its fate.

In his letter, Mr Penrose said: “The concern is that deep-pocketed developers could waste public resources and potentially manipulate or pervert the system as a result.”

Mr Penrose’s calls are backed by Congresbury Parish Council and its district councillor Tom Leimdorfer.
