A NEW £110,000 play area created by North Somerset Council will be officially opened tomorrow (Friday).
The Walford Avenue play park, in Worle, is home to a 5.5-metre climbing net, a zip wire, a toddlers’ bike track and other climbing equipment.
The revamp comes after years of anticipation from residents and an extensive consultation with people living in St Georges and North Worle.
The council’s chairman Charles Cave will be attending the opening tomorrow, which will begin at 11am.
The authority’s executive member for open spaces Peter Bryant said: “The new play area will provide children and young people with exciting opportunities for play as well as a place for families to enjoy.
“I am especially pleased that the community were involved in the design process and feel that it will be a real focal point in the park.”
The next stage of the scheme will see a £50,000 concrete-surface skate zone built alongside a picnic area for families.
