NEW equipment bought with money from the Mercury's Go Kids Go! scheme has been used during community events in Weston this summer.

South Ward events group Our Way Our Say was given £500 from the scheme, in partnership with Weston Lions Club, to create fun summer activities for youngsters.

It has held community events at Weston Youth Centre in Coleridge Road every Friday, with youngsters able to enjoy a bouncy castle, a water slide and bowls.

They have also played board games, badminton and table tennis.

The South Weston Activity Network also helped with food and running costs and the sessions have been attended by families from across South Ward.
