A GREAT-grandmother from Weston will be taking part in the Midnight Beach Walk next month to help raise money for Weston Hospicecare.

Betty Pleasant, aged 77, who is taking part in the Midnight Beach Walk supported by the Weston and Somerset Mercury, on September 15, is asking other women to join her in the fund-raiser.

Betty, who has eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, said: "I decided to sign up for the walk after seeing an article about it in the Mercury.

"I thought it would be nice to help because my husband George died from cancer and I cared for him for more than four years."

The women-only sponsored five mile event will follow a circular route from Uphill to Marine Lake and back again and will start at midnight.
