Great Western Air Ambulance (GWAAC) was called to Kewstoke this morning with support from the ambulance service and police.

A police spokesman said they were on scene following a ‘medical incident’ where there was a ‘concern for welfare’.

MORE: Police have been working to free trapped motorists today.

A GWAAC spokesman said: “The air ambulance did attend an incident in the Weston area this morning, however due to the nature of the job we cannot give any more details at this time.”

The South West was battered by strong winds and blizzard-like conditions last night and there is still a yellow weather warning for snow and ice in place.

MORE: There have been major traffic disruptions throughout yesterday (Thursday) and today.

The police have warned people to avoid travelling unless it is ‘absolutely necessary’ and have advised people to wrap up warm if they plan on going outside.

More snow is forecast from 7-9pm this evening.
