A WALK to highlight the plight of former racing greyhounds will be held later this month.
The Great British Greyhound Walk will on June 24 will see about 100 ex-racing dogs taken for a walk with their owners at 10am in Links Road, Uphill.
Greyhound Rescue West of England spokesman Stuart Parslow said: “Almost every greyhound you meet will be an ex-racer, or at least of racing stock, and almost all had little or no life to look forward to until they were rescued.
“This is a great opportunity for anyone thinking of taking an ex-racing dog into their lives to meet some of the dogs and to hear their stories.
“Greyhounds make gentle pets and are great companions for families of all ages, so we would like to invite anyone who may be interested to come and see the strength of feeling that greyhound families have for their dogs.”
There is also a shorter, wheelchair-accessible walk available.
