A GREYHOUND rescue group celebrated a rise in successfully finding new homes for its dogs with a brisk walk across the beach in Weston.

The Greyhound Rescue West of England (GRWE) is staffed entirely by volunteers and, with statistics from 2011, GRWE found that the number of dogs returned to kennels after a homing is down yet again.

Chair of trustees Jan Lake said: “We calculated the number of returned dogs is less than many of the larger charities and a clear indication that the preparatory work put in by our homing teams prior and the sterling work carried out by post homing support teams is working.”
