VOLUNTEERS and dogs from Greyhound Rescue West of England (GRWE) will be out on Weston's Royal Sands on Sunday.

Last year 2,233 dogs were involved in 75 walks around the country which reflects the growing reputation of greyhounds as family pets, rather than racing dogs.

GRWE spokesperson Stuart Parslow said: “This is also an excellent opportunity for anyone thinking of re-homing a greyhound to meet ex-racing dogs and talk to their owners.”

The walk will begin at the Royal Sands car park at 10am and participants are asked to clean up behind their pet, and keep all dogs on a lead.
