A new flower bed is to be created in Nailsea as part of the town's 'in bloom' initiative. The new bed, at the junction of Stock Way South and Hazelbury Road, will be looked after by the town's guides.Work started on the bed at the weekend with members of Nailsea Horticultural Society working with the guides to design their trefoil emblem in plants. The bed, which will form part of the Nailsea in Bloom display, will be filled twice a year with seasonal planting.Nailsea in Bloom chairman Martyn Davis said: "It is good to have other groups in the town wanting to get involved with the initiative and take responsibility for a particular area."This sort of scheme has worked very well for a number of years with the Nailsea WI ladies looking after the bed at the end of the High Street."This project is particularly encouraging as it involves young people."Cadbury Garden & Leisure in Congresbury donated some box hedging to the guides to form the outline of the trefoil emblem. These plants will remain in the bed, but the outline will be filled in each season with fresh bedding flowers.
