Lauren Lenihan, 18, and her friend Gabby Coles, 20, have so far raised more than £1,100 for the charity.

The Banwell youngsters gathered in front of a crowd at the Brewers Arms before having their long locks chopped for the cause.

Lauren said: “There was a really good turnout, we weren’t expecting so many people but they just kept coming and coming.

We got quite a few donations on the night which was really nice. Everyone was cheering, we felt really proud of ourselves.

“We were thinking about doing it for a while because we like to do things to help others, but we weren’t sure.

“When my auntie passed away of breast cancer it made me really determined.”
