WHEN an electrician saw a picture of a pretty girl 64 years ago, he asked for an introduction - and it led to a long and happy marriage.
Harry Insley, aged 80, was fitting a radio at the home of Lily Smith’s parents when he saw the photo of her.
He asked Lily’s father if he could meet her and four years later the pair went on to marry, before having four children, 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The couple, who celebrate their diamond wedding anniversary today (Thurs), moved from Smethwick in the West Midlands in 1980.
They now live in Manor Farm Crescent in Hutton and will celebrate their big day with about 30 family and friends by having a meal.
Lily, aged 79, said: “The secret to a long-lasting marriage is give and take.
“When I first met Harry I thought he preferred my friend, but I was the lucky one.”
