Apple bobbing and baking were some of the activities on offer at a primary school's annual harvest festival.

Youngsters at Mark First and Preschool Academy, in The Causeway, have been taking part in a series of events to celebrate the traditional harvest season.

One of those activities saw the school’s parents, teachers and friends association stage a field fest for children to enjoy, featuring songs and games linked to the autumn.

A school spokesman told the Mercury: “Somerset apples have been central to their efforts, from apple bobbing at the school autumn field fest to picking crops for the local cider farms.

“Reception class made blackberry and apple turnovers, and the whole school is practising songs for the harvest festival.

“The children are experiencing the joys of the harvest season.”
