A VILLAGE harvest home has been cancelled for the first time in its 155-year history.

The East Brent harvest home was due to take place on Friday in Jarvis Lane but organisers have taken the decision to cancel the event due to the water-logged condition of the field.

Harvest home chairman Colin Loader said: “The field is water-logged making it unsafe to erect the marquee as well as for vehicles and guests - tables and chairs are liable to sink.”

Ticket refunds can be obtained at the village hall in Brent Road on Saturday from noon to 2pm, or by calling 01278 760695.
