THE headteacher of Gordano School in Portishead has announced that he will be leaving the school at the end of July.

Graham Silverthorne told parents in a newsletter that he will be moving to Hong Kong at the end of the academic year to take up the post as Principal of South Island School.

Mr Silverthrone said he has extremely mixed feelings about the move combining "sadness and excitement".

He has been head at Gordano for the past seven years but says this new opportunity represents the chance of adventure and professional development for him.

He has reassured parents that from now until July his commitment and focus will be exclusively on working with the plans to move Gordano from very good to outstanding.
