The For All Healthy Living Centre in Lonsdale Avenue on the Bournville estate is home to a café, doctors’ surgery, church and a library.

To mark its anniversary, volunteers from Alliance Homes and the centre’s joint Growing Together project covered the estate in knitting.

Former staff members and volunteers from the past 10 years shared their memories, which included the Queen’s visit in 2007.

Chief executive Mark Graham said: “The event was a great success. People were covering the area in knitting from about 5.30am.

“It was a bit of fun and a great surprise for people arriving at the centre in the morning.”

For the staff, it was a double celebration as its Locality Health Centre was rated ‘outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission in a report.

Mr Graham said: “On the day, a service user stood up and said the centre had changed his life.

“Hearing comments like that is incredible.”

Mary Morgan from the Growing Together project added: “Over the day we created loads of smiles and wonder and the whole thing was a great opportunity to interact with people.”
