A warning of bank holiday flash floods and torrential downpours has been issued by the Met Office today (Friday).

Weather experts are warning people in South West England to expect a deluge of rain on Sunday and Monday and say it could cause problems on the region’s roads.

The warning is in place for 24 hours, beginning at noon on Sunday.

The Met Office says: “Another band of heavy rain is likely to spread northward through Sunday into Monday, with some locally torrential downpours and thunder possible.

“There are early indications that this could result in some disruption, with sudden flooding of roads, transport routes, homes and businesses possible.”
