Some 'surprise' baby hedgehogs were born at a rescue centre in Cheddar this week.

Prickles Hedgehog Rescue cares for ill and injured hedgehogs.

A hedgehog with an infection was taken to the centre, but she surprised volunteers when she gave birth.

Prickles founder Jules Bishop said: “A surprised volunteer came across the four hoglets during the clean out on Monday morning.

“Mum and hoglets are doing really well.”

The hedgehog and her young will be released when the hoglets reach 450g.
