A HEDGEHOG rescue centre has been given a grant by a major utility company to help care for its injured animals.

Wessex Water handed Prickles Rescue Centre in Copper Close, Cheddar, a Watermark award and a grant to help cover the cost of its ‘hogspital’.

Jules Bishop, who runs the RSPCA-approved centre, said: “We are proud to be the only hedgehog rescue centre in the South West.”

Watermark awards have been running for 18 years and provide funds for green projects in the Wessex Water region.

The firm welcomes applications from schools, parish councils and community groups. To download an application form, go to www.wessexwater.co.uk/watermark

If you come across a hedgehog in need of help, call Prickles on 07806 744772.
