The founder of Weston-super-Mare’s Helicopter Museum will host a tour this weekend to mark the venue’s anniversary.

Elfan Ap Rees will take visitors around the Locking Moor Road site on Saturday as part of the museum’s 29th anniversary celebrations.

The tour will chart the attraction’s humble beginnings from a small display of helicopters to the world’s largest collection.

A spokesman said: “The museum has undergone significant growth since opening in 1989 and continues to expand with the opening of Weston Airfield’s restored control tower last year and work now beginning on a new visitor service building.”

The museum tour will replace the traditional anniversary lecture.

It will begin at 11am and no extra charge or booking is required to take part.
