Help through new website

PUBLISHED: 19:00 20 December 2012

A UNIQUE website designed to help victims of rape and sexual assault has launched for people in Avon and Somerset.

In a bid to educate people about the crimes and encourage more victims to come forward and report what has happened to them tackles key issues, raises awareness of the crimes and offers help and advice to anyone who might need it.

It is run by Avon and Somerset police and takes the user through all their options from the types of rape and sexual assault that can be committed and who to contact, to the type of care they will receive, how evidence will be collected, making a report, the investigation and their ability to control the process.

Pages on the site also give a true picture of the crime and challenge all the myths and stereotypes that people may have.

The site, which includes interactive elements, also offers advice and links to other support organisations that might support victims.

If you have been a victim of rape and sexual assault, past or present, you can report it by calling 999 or 101.
