It has long been regarded as one of Weston’s best annual events – but now new blood and fresh ideas are wanted to further improve the town’s winter carnival.

Tens of thousands of people pack the town every November for a glittering illuminated procession which supports local charities.

Ill health has seen past organisers step down this year, but while others have stepped up, they are appealing for a further injection of support.

A meeting has been scheduled for 5.30pm on August 9 at The Hive in Beaufighter Road for potential supporters to get involved ahead of the event on November 10.

Spokesman Terry Gilbert said: “Carnival brings thousands of people to our town, so please help so we can continue with this amazing event.”
